Ms. Francesca Rochetti
Educational Specialist
I began my career working with our youngest learners in Preschool Mixed, Intensive, and Collaborative Special Education classes. From there, I transitioned into general education classrooms across the elementary grades, with meaningful stops teaching Special Day Classes along the way. My journey then led me to high school as a Resource Specialist Teacher before returning to middle school, where I continue to serve as both an RSP teacher and Special Education Coordinator.
One of the most rewarding moments of my career was when two high school students introduced themselves as former preschoolers from my very first class. Supporting them through graduation and into college—and knowing I had been part of their journey from the very beginning—remains one of the greatest honors of my profession.
Special Education has always been my passion. In my current role as a Special Education Coordinator and APEIS, I work closely with teachers, support staff, administrators, and families to ensure every student receives the support they need. A central focus of my work is gathering and presenting data that is objective, clear, and meaningful for families. Using a combination of observations, checklists, interviews, and both informal and formal assessments, I strive to ensure that every decision is rooted in reliable, actionable information.
Professional development is also a priority. I lead and participate in ongoing team training, with a focus on how data can inform instruction and guide families in making well-informed decisions regarding IEP placement and programming.
Equally important is family engagement. I believe that strong partnerships between schools and families are key to student success. To support this, I host monthly parent workshops designed to provide families with practical knowledge, resources, and strategies—empowering them to confidently advocate for their children.
In addition to my work with students and families, I’ve also served for the past decade as a mentor in LAUSD’s ICAAP program, supporting new teachers during their critical first years in the classroom. This mentorship has been a deeply rewarding extension of my role, allowing me to share my experience and help new educators grow into confident, effective teachers.
At the heart of all I do is a commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive, and every family feels supported and informed throughout their educational journey.
